On Nov. 30, Palm Beach Atlantic University held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the $9 million John & Sheila Rinker Sports Center, PBA’s new building for student athletes.
Student-athletes, coaches, and special guests attended the event. Many PBA staff members spoke including Director of Athletics Carolyn Stone. John Rinker also spoke, dedicating the building.
The building is at the center of the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus. It is a two story building, containing six locker rooms, a weight room, hospitality rooms, conference rooms, offices and more. PBA has 14 outdoor teams which will benefit from this building, adjacent to the fields.
John and Sheila Rinker are the main source of funds for the construction of The Rinker Sports Center; families, alumni and donors also contributed. PBA’s athletic facilities are improving quickly, as the Rinker Athletic Campus was built three years ago. The Rinker’s believe PBA’s Division II program will benefit greatly from this state of the art facility. They hope that as time goes on, the program will continue to grow, and it will be a school that dominates not only the Sunshine State Conference, but also competes for national championships.
