The Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) Sailfish men's basketball team opened their conference play with a big home game. The ‘Fish battled the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles and came out on top. Although Embry-Riddle put up a good fight, they were no match for the Sailfish.
The stands were packed and the momentum was on PBA’s side from the first play. Starting with the very first basket by Grant Gullett, the home team led the entire game. The Sailfish dominated the game, utilizing a large amount of players which showed just how deep this team’s bench is. While Embry-Riddle played eight athletes, PBA used 11.
Six PBA players scored in double-digits, led by freshman Jules Jasmin with 16. With a little over 10 minutes left in the game, the ‘Fish led by twenty-three points, and the closest Embry-Riddle would come after that was eleven points with six minutes remaining.
The game ended with a final score of 92-70 for a PBA Sailfish win. This puts the ‘Fish at 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in Sunshine State Conference, with an away game against Florida Southern College on Saturday, where they hope to continue their four game winning streak.
